| The RYA Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster
Theory course is an advanced course for those wishing to skipper
a yacht on longer coastal passages or students working towards
taking the RYA Coastal Skipper or RYA Yachtmaster Offshore
Exams.
RYA Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster Theory course is an intensive
RYA course covering advanced navigation techniques including
- position fixing, course shaping and plotting, tidal knowledge
and use of almanacs. Admiralty publications and electronic
position finding equipment. The RYA Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster
Theory course covers meteorology and includes the taking and
interpretation of forecasts, plotting of weather systems and
weather prediction using barometer and by observation.
RYA Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster Theory course candidates
are shown how to use this information when planning and executing
passage plans. This RYA theory course also covers customs
and excise regulations for going and returning from abroad.
The international regulations for prevention of collision
at sea are dealt with in detail.
During the course students sit three exams, students will
be awarded the RYA Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster Theory
Shorebased Certificate. This course is held in a modern classroom
and includes all course materials, morning and afternoon tea. |
